Since we’re talking boundaries, let’s start with a simple one…what days are you working?
Are you popping in on weekends to “knock a little something out” even though you technically only work M-F? Do you sneak in on Monday nights to check your email even though you promised never to work another Monday again?
If so, you aren’t respecting your own boundaries.
When I shifted my work week to M-Th? It was ROUGH. I’d wake up on Fridays feeling great and guilty and weird. Even now, months later, if work’s a little more intense, I still feel the urge to get a little extra done if I just knock a little out on my off day.
But there’s always something else that needs to get done. Ultimately, I’m just disrespecting my boundaries and teaching myself and people around me that my limits are loose.
If you’re doing the same, try to use this month to do something different. Give yourself permission to fall behind, change your thinking, ask for an extension…even let someone down…whatever it takes to solidify the boundaries you’ve set to build a better life.
