I’ve been out on my own doing content marketing for about 7 years now. Along the way, I’ve run across quite a few different style guides.
Over time, I’ve noticed something — things have gotten a LOT more informal. In just the last few years I’ve seen a swing from “corporate with a twist” to flat out conversational with an individual touch.
Mind you…this is in a pretty dry, B2B sector that targets executives mostly over the age of 40.
The general lesson? Content is flattening and becoming more “real”. The takeaway for you? Never underestimate where your voice might be an asset.
