Every month we run through a series of questions to help you run your freelance business like a business—“self-coaching” your way to better results and a better life.
Hey!
It’s easy to just…do marketing things.
In fact, that’s what most people do. The harder part is making sure your marketing (and sales) tactics fit together into a bigger picture of your business strategy.
But it doesn’t have to be complicated.
Since we’re tiny little nano-businesses, simple is better. So, this month, we’re going to cover a few, basic questions you can ask to add continuity to even the simplest approach to marketing. Ready? Let’s go!
Do you have a plan?
…so let’s talk your marketing plan.
I don’t believe complicated marketing is helpful for freelancers, but I do think the basics of a strategy matter. For most of us, that’s going to be as simple as a very clear niche.
The power of a clear niche, is that it can answer the bulk of the marketing challenges you run into.
Take mine for example. I’m in healthcare enterprise SaaS. When I started wondering about what services to offer, all I had to do was visit a few prospects’ sites, check out some trade show resources, and swing by a couple of professional orgs—to see that case studies and white papers were a good idea.
So what about you? What’s your niche telling you about your marketing plan these days?
