Retirement for freelancers, gorgeous color schemes, and better words!

Published: Sun, 09/20/15

Hi , how’d your week go?

Focusing seems to be the theme around BlackFreelance this week with some great conversations around retirement, color schemes, editing, and website optimization going on.

New On BlackFreelance
While I’m betting you like working for yourself more than an employer, I’m guessing you still don’t want to do it forever.

Money can be one of the most frustrating topics to tackle as a freelancer, but it’s an essential one if you want to stick with this long term. That’s why we’ve sat down to talk with James C. Molet of RetirementSavvy to get some of your most important questions around retirement as freelancer answered. Check it out here on the blog.

Optimizing Your Site
BlackFreelance member Brittany has been doing some amazing things and giving some great advice on websites.

If you’ve been thinking of cleaning up your site, check out her advice on keeping your WordPress site running its best, as well as her beautiful color palettes which are an easy way to make your site look more pulled together (Summer Lemonade is my favorite right now…and it has me crazy thirsty).

Getting Your Words Right
Everyone needs a good editor.

Whether you freelance as a writer or just need someone going through your latest e-book, a good editor can make all the difference between effective content and words that just take up space. It takes time to build up relationships with editors though, which is why I want to highlight two I ran across on Twitter. You can read about Shanica and Julia here in the forums. If you have any immediate work, drop them a line.

Goals
Only 10 days left until our next Monthly Meetup, so if you have a goal you’d like to set, come on over and post it. Next month, we’re going to be starting themed goals, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to respond or post them in the forum.

That’s it for this week. Talk to you soon!

Megan.

P.S. Just a reminder that if you want your freelance services featured on our freelancers-for-hire page, all you have to do is reply to this email with your site, contact information, and a brief description.
