I just found out about a free webinar from Upwork that will help you improve your profile and create better proposals. 

Upwork has tons of low-balling candidates for sure, but plenty of people make a living there (and I find clients that pay over $100/hr there myself). The first step in finding good work there though, is a great profile and good proposals.
