Sometimes the most important upgrades you can make to your website are the easiest.
If there’s one huge opportunity freelancers miss out on on their websites consistently it’s the chance to feature testimonials…that’s a huge mistake in an environment where people have been trained to rely on a testimonial or customer story as part of their buying process.
Look at Amazon, commercials,
recommendations…those are all forms of testimonials that each and every one of us relies on whether we’re buying a new car or trying out a new dish soap. So the big question is, how are you relating your testimonials to your potential clients?
Remember, testimonials don’t have to be a huge undertaking. If you don’t have a large bank of positive feedback, ask for quotes (with permission) on what it’s like to work with you or on how your work positively impacted your
clients’ business.
Remember, leaving off testimonials can mean thousands of dollars in lost business, so don’t put this very simple step off any longer.
New On BlackFreelance
One of my newer clients just offered me a job…and I said no.
A year ago, I would have felt a bit insane for doing this, but today…today I know I made the right choice to continually commit to my life as a freelancer.
One of the greatest things about the process I went through with this client though, is that that “no” wasn’t cut and dry. I will continue to work with them as a freelance writer and consultant, and that’s the beauty of freelancing…having options.
I wrote a little bit on the decision
here.
Goals
We’re down to the last two weeks of website month so if you haven’t posted your goals, now is a great time. If you’re looking for something simple that you can pull off by the end of the month, a testimonial section is an easy addition to a menu.
Come check out the forums when you’re ready to get started or just to support the rest of us while we work through our October goals.
