One of the biggest challenges I’ve had as a freelancer is getting my website to passively generate business.
I don’t mean just getting traffic or shares of blog posts…I mean actually having a visitor find my site on their own, see something they like, and make contact to hire me. It’s something that the less Internet-friendly your niche is, the more work you’re going to have to do in pulling people in, but it’s doable
if you are very clear on the value you create, if your SEO and social are working properly and your content flow is on point.
I’ve learned a lot about what people want from me and what pain points get them to want my services, so personally for my website, I’m going to be focusing this month and really streamlining things to reflect that.
What about you? What is your site doing for you? What can you do to fix
that?
New On BlackFreelance
If you want some help answering that last question, check out our newest day-course, “
Website Essentials”.
It will walk you through the most important elements of your website. After finishing you can expect to
have…
- An understanding of the core elements every freelance website should have.
- Confidence in trimming the fat on your current site (if you have one) and starting from the cleanest slate possible.
- Tips on creating effective core site areas.
- Templates to give you some guidance on getting
started
- Tools to repurpose the material on your site to generate business in other spaces
So set a day on your calendar to work your way through, and let me know what you think! I’m always looking to refine the courses we offer here, so if you ever have any input, don’t hesitate to let me know. You’ll be helping make things better for future members on the site and giving me feedback for creating the kind of material
you need most.

in,
and post yours to get support from some great people in building your freelance web presence.
(And uh…yeah…I’ve been lagging behind on posting mine because I’m not quite sure exactly what I want my end site to look like. I'll be there
though:)
