We’re closing out Skill Development Month (which I’m personally going to have to catch up on, because I’m still working on my digital strategies book) and moving into Social Media Month!
I’m excited about this one, since using social can be fun, and really productive when it comes to building your freelance business. We’ll be covering topics including:
- Networking Via Social (with a special
focus on the B.o.B./Neil Degrasse Tyson Twitter…because, wow)
- Choosing The Right Platforms
- Establishing Your Social Schedule
- Saving Time
So if you’re looking for new ways to really branch out in your freelance career, stay tuned this month, because you don’t want to miss out on all the potential social has for you.
Before we get into our usual material
though, I want to announce a new mini e-book you have access to…it’s a rundown of the six pillars of freelancing that we work through every month in the Growth Loop and is a great resource for you to keep on hand.
These six pillars help you understand the foundational points of your freelance career that you want to keep returning to to ensure your progress as a freelancer. You can
download e-book that here whenever you want to take a look, but it will also be available in the e-Books and Courses section on your dashboard. (Also, if you’ve got any friends or family who might be interested, feel free to pass it along.)
Lastly, it’s about time for
our next
Q&A recording, so if you’ve got any questions you’d like answered, shoot them right on over (questions on social media use will be especially appreciated.)
Blog Suggestion
One of the best things you can do with your freelance blog is to use it as a place to educate your potential clients and make them feel
comfortable with you before they even sign a contract.
Answer questions they might have about working with you or the services you provide before they even get to you. This is a great opportunity to create a list post or FAQ blog series about your work, your industry, or your opinions.
Gig Overview
If you’re having problems finding clients, don’t forget to hit the higher-dollar opportunities on the sites below (skip the
low-ball projects…remember, your time is valuable.)
Even if you don’t see something that works for you in the summaries, click on these links and add on a
couple of your keywords to customize each search to your location or specialty. Also, remember to help other freelancers
out and pass any good prospects on
in the forums, or
in our LinkedIn group.
Upwork: A lot of $$$ app work and e-commerce going on at Upwork.
Indeed: Social media community
management and customer service are getting the spotlight this week.
CareerBuilder: A nice mix of graphic and full stack design as well as copywriting on CareerBuilder.
That’s all for now…if you ever need any help in your freelance
work, shoot me an email and I’ll see what I can do. Have a great week!
Megan.
