It was fun! This is only my second one in this format, so I wasn’t sure how it would work out, but it was like going back through a journal...It was hilarious to see how my favorite client had plummeted to my least favorite in just a couple of months. I also saw how that plummet coincided and caused some financial goals I’m now concerned about. Other notable changes…
- My marketing is almost completely passive
now...My website is pulling in requests to the point that I’m turning some down, and I’ve been on a few bidding sites long enough to have been considered for their higher-end clients and programs. It’s making a big difference in who I’m working with.
- I’ve bumped up my minimum hourly earning by 50% (nervous, but I’ve seen the value in my work and getting on with a couple of big-name programs lets me command a higher price.
- My client roster is a lot more stable
- My general feelings about life have improved
I’m also seeing that this quarter, I need to commit to a push on my finances and keep up what I’m doing to get good clients.
I can’t tell you how much doing this has impacted how I feel about where I am as a freelancer...I feel more confident, in control, and focused for the next quarter. If you haven’t
had a chance to do one yourself,
check it out here (you'll need to log in.) It’s really fast after the first one and you’ll thank yourself for doing it.
