“Make Me A Site Like Donald Trump’s”

Published: Sun, 04/03/16

Hi

We live in an age where website design and content flow are two sides of the same coin, so I get asked pretty regularly to at least give my opinion on how the site that holds the writing I create should be put together.

Last week, I was working with the owner of a growing company and he told me “Make me a site like Donald Trump’s.” I froze. I’m not a fan of the man’s politics at all, but I even more deeply dislike his style of communication and interraction. My client though, insisted I take a look at his in comparison to the rest of the candidates to see what made it stand out.

Once I visited I saw why he insisted. Trump’s messaging is clear, clean, and doesn’t include requests like the other candidates do.  (If you want to read more about what sets his site apart, here’s an article that goes into a bit of detail.) His site is an excellent example of how to center your visitors’ experience, and be direct in your messaging.

We’ve rolled back around to website month, and this time, we’re going to be focused on using your website to really tell your story to the people who want to hire you. This is going to be a month of small changes that yield big results, so make sure to keep up with everything that’s going on around here at BlackFreelance this April.
