Are you creating your own freelance templates, ?

Hi

I’m just coming off a couple of big projects, so this month, I got a chance to circle back around and really pay attention to some of my marketing processes and how to make them easier and more effective.

I pulled some templates…all excited to fix them up, and I was embarrassed at how out-dated they already felt! I hadn’t noticed it, but in just the six months that had passed since the last Getting Clients month, the way I knew I needed to speak to clients had changeds completely.

I’ve made changes to my freelance business--launching a small, simple, and to-the-point off-shoot site that focuses only on case studies (something I’ll tell you more about in the forums next week), focusing on niching down even more into an area that I KNOW has potential for good money and where I really know the ins and outs, and even just being more open with my personal image and voice in my work. (Letting go of that agency feel and marketing myself more as just, well…myself!)

I’ve grown, my business has changed, and it was time those marketing templates changed too.

In general, it’s a good idea to make those kinds of updates even if you haven’t made any changes to your freelance business — even if you don’t feel it, you’ve grown as a freelancer.

The big question is, how do you make sure your potential clients really feel that? Constant updating and re-writing contact letters can be exhausting, which is why I use templates as frameworks when I’m cold contacting. What about you?

Do you use templates to make cold contacting easier and save yourself time and frustration? Are you paying attention to (and saving) emails that get responses?

If not, finish out this Getting Clients month by writing just one, skeleton letter that you can use and customize when sending out cold contact…and let me know how it works out!

Hope everything is going great for you, and talk to you soon!

Megan.

P.S. Also, here’s a list of this month’s posts…take a look to see if you missed any!
