Fake it ‘til you make it with this month’s Twitter challenge!

Published: Sun, 08/07/16

Hi

You know the worst thing about not having an active social media presence dedicated to your freelance business? It tells the whole world — potential clients, partners, referrals, friends and family — that you’re not serious…that you’re not confident in what you do as a freelancer.

As much as I don’t believe in faking it ‘til you make it, this is one of the times where just putting yourself out there on social has too many benefits for you to risk dragging your feet.

That’s why I want to invite you to this month’s challenge!

If you complete it, by the end of August you’ll have a simple, low-maintenance social media process for your freelance business. Since it’s the simplest set up (and won’t jeopardize your employment as much if you’re freelancing on the side), we’re going to start with just Twitter.

(If you want to take a look at the entire month’s challenge, you can take a peek here.)

Challenge Week 1: Setup and Branding

To get things moving, we’re going to make sure you’re set up on Twitter and that your freelance account reflects your brand as a freelancer. (If you already have a freelance Twitter account, review and refresh it if needed.) This week, your goal is to…

  • Set up an account dedicated only to your freelance business. If you need to create a second one, go for it.
  • Choose either a photo of yourself or a logo that pertains to your business.
  • Write a description. Use the tips featured here. Make sure you mention the benefits you provide your clients.

If you get stuck on any of that, just reply to this email and we can talk it out. That’s all for this week!

Megan.
