I’m only a month into my personal test run of Project $70K and I’m excited to let you know about some very early results I’m seeing.
I say “very early” because this project is long-term and is going to be a staple of my marketing for at least the next year, and that’s for a few reasons...
The emails work.
I’m
getting 25-100% open rates on the email templates I’ve been using (which I’ll share in more detail as I build the program out). I want to keep that up and see how the number change over time.
It starts conversation.
I just signed a big client with a cold contact started from one of the $70K emails. They want this service plus original articles, social media
management, and case studies. If it does nothing else, it get clients considering the work I do and starts conversations that lead to business.
It’s forced me to listen.
A simple solution means more conversations which means more chances to hear what clients are interested in, what gets them talking, and what shuts their interest down.
It’s easy to plan.
After you get more than 5-6 clients as a freelancer, planning your work can be tricky. Starting with a simple product means I can more easily plan out production blocks in my week.
I’m seeing challenges.
Some clients don’t quite get the service (weekly news blogging), which has led to some scope creep and miscommunication that I’m
working to resolve right now. (I assumed people would easily understand how this worked since I gave so many examples…nope.)
So like I said, this will be an ongoing thing. With the 4 new clients I’m adding from just one month of marketing I’m almost at capacity, so I’ll probably only sign a couple more for now, but if you’re trying it too on your own, I’d love to hear your results! Regardless though, keep an eye out for email announcements for a more
formal launch of this program.
As always, if you have ANY questions about doing the same thing yourself, shoot ‘em on over!
Megan.
