So like I promised in the past few emails, I just finished up my
Self Assessment and want to share my results with you. As always, it’s been really enlightening.
Here are a few of the highlights of what’s changed for me and my freelance
business since last quarter…
- My ideal client shifted from “small to medium businesses” to “medium to large”, (which probably explains my recent boosts in income)
- The problems I solve for my clients are COMPLETELY different (thanks to doing some listening).
- I now list blogging as one of the primary services I
provide.
- My least favorite client isn’t bad at all--much better than 6 months ago when I was ITCHING to drop my MAC (most annoying client).
- I’m still hitting my $150 minimum hourly rate.
- I’m saving for taxes! (That’s a big victory for me…for real.)
- I
didn’t get business insurance and haven’t been to a doctor for a while…slacking.
- I saw my general life perception go from “Pretty good”, to “Good” to “Awesome!” since I first started doing the assessments.
This has seriously grown to be one of my favorite exercises as a freelancer because it reveals SO much that I miss. I have a tendency to get caught up in how I feel about
my freelance business right this minute, and that can be very misleading.
Megan.
