Our new challenge…Your Web Presence!

Published: Sun, 10/09/16

Hi

If I had to pick one month of our rotation that you should always work through from beginning to end (I know you can’t get to every single one), it’s this one, and that’s because your web presence is the foundation of your freelance business.

That’s true whether you have a profile on a bidding site, blog, or full on website like I do.
It’s also something that you should be reviewing and refreshing a couple of times a year (I’m planning a pretty big overhaul that I’ve been putting off myself), so even if you’re not quite feeling it, working through this month’s challenge is a must.

Here’s what we’re going to cover this October

  • Week 1: Refine Your Messaging
  • Week 2: Open your lines of communication
  • Week 3: Convince them “Why”
  • Week 4: Show them what you can do

Week 1: Refine Your Messaging

Last Web Presence month (April) we did a series on messaging, and this month we’re starting off on the same foot, and with a simple question.

Do you introduce yourself?

On your profiles, site, or blog (because you might have one, two, or all three), do you tell people who you are, what you do, and what you can do for them?

If not, are you scared to? Do you not know how? (Hint: Work through this and you’ll be off to a great start.) If you’re nervous about telling the world who you are as a freelancer, remember that they can’t tell you how you can better help them solve their problems if you’re hiding what you think they need.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably learned some important information about who you serve and what they need over the last six months, so take a look at how you introduce yourself on all your web presences and ask if it still fits who you are and the type of clients you want coming to you.

Have a great week and if you want individual feedback (like taking a look at your site or profile), shoot it on over!
