The years that the U.S. was sitting under its first Black president were some of the most difficult of my career.

2016 was abysmal in many (many) ways, but my freelance business grew beautifully.

Life has a funny way of reminding you that just because something is new, inspirational, and groundbreaking in one area, doesn’t mean it’s got to be great in another. The opposite is also true.

Next year, you have an opportunity to do more than just survive. You can shape your freelance business in amazing ways. Don’t let the rest of the world make you forget that.
