Gamechanger: Tracking your contacts

Published: Sun, 11/27/16

Hi

I read somewhere a while back that it takes an average of 12 points of contact to make a sale…12!

If I’m gonna be honest, I naturally give up after about two. I tell myself “if these people really wanted to work with me, they’d just reply to my email, set up a call and sign a contract.

That is…completely not true though.

People get busy. They miss emails. Their needs change. That’s why, unless a company has asked me not to, I follow up. That’s on social, via email, and honestly with multiple people in a company.

That process is a LOT easier if you keep a CRM (customer relationship management) tool on hand. Insightly is my favorite, but even a simple spreadsheet can be a great help in not losing all the work you did 8 months ago to contact that one great prospect (who just needed to get past one big project to finally contact you back.)

Make documentation a habit and I promise you’ll find new guidance and inspiration in your freelance business. Have a great day!

Megan.
