It’s Reflection and Assessment
month!
One thing (of many, many things) I don’t miss about employed life is annual reviews.
I had a few useful ones, but for the most part, they were time wasted putting together goals and plans that never got executed. The thing is, even though employers frequently get it wrong, the practice of regularly looking at your work and performance is important...even more important for freelancers.
This month though, we’re going to do a simple exercise where we answer one question each week to refocus and keep our businesses moving in the best
direction.
Ready? Here’s an overview
- What have you prioritized in your freelance life?
- Are your current habits aligned?
- How have you spent your freelance time?
- How do you know you’ve reached your goals?
So…this week’s
question…
If you could only pick one, which of these would you say you’ve prioritized over the last six months?
- Money
- Social Impact
- Skill
improvement
- Flexibility
- Stability
- Something else
- Nothing…I’ve kind of
drifted
No answer is better than any other. The point here is to just be honest with yourself. Make a note of which has been true for you and why. Also talk a little bit about why you think things have gone down the way they have and how that makes you feel.
This might take a little time, but getting in this habit is one of most powerful things you can do as a freelancer. Also, if you want to share, I’d be happy to listen!
