10 Ways to Get Past the Fear of Charging For Your Work

Published: Wed, 03/08/17

Hi

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of people saying that fear is holding them back from getting paid for the work they do. Talking to other Black freelancers and online entrepreneurs, they’re hearing the same thing.

This is a problem.

Freelancing holds HUGE potential for us as a community and individuals, and this fear? It not only keeps people from starting, it keeps us from charging what we’re worth and building the careers that support our lives and the people around us.

I want you and every freelancer you know to be confident both starting AND getting paid.
That’s why I put together 10 pieces of advice to help you get over the fear of charging for your work. The blog post is here, but here’s a peek at the list…

Ask the Value question.
Watch other people.
Stop condemning others.
Do a survey.
Start small.
Name your benefits.
Examine what you (and others) pay for.
Change your relationship with rejection.
Get to know who’s charging.
Shift your thinking.

Give it a read to learn how you can implement those ideas in your freelance life, and as always, let me know what you think. Thanks!
