This week in the website tour, we’re moving into
an area that few people think of when they think “freelancer”, and that’s accounting.
Accountants are in demand year ‘round, and around the world, which is why this week, we’re going to be taking a look at a site in the U.K.
I’ll admit that
this isn’t my favorite layout, but Philip gets major credit for getting everything up front for his visitors.
He’s got his credentials big and bold off to the right, and the various services he offers as links that land clearly in the middle of the page. What’s interesting about Philip is that he’s locally focused (a smart choice for accountants, since laws and standards can vary so much by region.)
He’s also taking care of his visitors’ needs
(and establishing his connection to his profession) with his Useful Articles section…And of course, he makes contact easy for his clients, putting that right up front.
This site is simple, but honestly, unless you’re a designer (maybe even if you are a designer), more isn’t always more. (Even in all the simplicity, Philip packs a lot of info.) Keep it simple so people can get to where they need and learn about you as quickly as possible.
I’ve got
a quick question to wrap up this week…if you don’t have a site, what do you think is keeping you from getting started? Is it the cost? Not knowing what to put on it? Are you getting enough business without one? Wanting to stay hidden from an employer? Not knowing how to get started?
Let me know and have a great week!
