OK, so this last piece of your “library” isn’t really a piece at
all, it’s a person.
We all know how important accountability is in everything from weight loss to spiritual growth, and it’s no different with freelancing.
If I hadn’t had my best friend (who’s also an indie worker) and some (relatively pricey) coaching programs when I first started, I don’t know if I would’ve had it in me to even establish the skills goals I needed, let alone set up a regular practice of
improvement.
There are lots of ways to find accountability…if you’ve got someone in your personal life who wants to see you get better at your freelance craft, that’s BEAUTIFUL. You’ve also got options like
our Skype group (it’s open 24/7 and I’m there pretty much 6 days a week) to find your freelance coworkers and connect with people who are also
always learning. Then there’s the communities we discussed last week, which usually do a great job of connecting you with other individuals who might be open to checking in on you regularly.
Whichever you choose (I suggest a combination), know that this isn’t really an option.
Keeping freelance momentum is challenging and it’s easy to get stuck, not getting better and not pushing yourself to offer the best, most profitable skills you can. So keep
connecting! After a while, it’ll become second nature.
