I don’t talk about it too much, but I work part-time.
You might hear me say that I make my full-time income as a freelancer, and that’s true, but I only work 4 hours a day, and sometimes 6. That’s deliberate.
One of my primary goals when I started freelancing was more freedom…more freedom to travel, more freedom to garden and cook, more freedom to sleep in for a few days to recover from daylight savings (I do NOT deal well with time changes).
I made very intentional decisions about my freelance life so that I could have a low-stress career that let me hit my financial goals and feel like my work was just part of my life instead of running it.
I am very happy with my schedule and I want to know how you feel about yours.
Are you happy with your freelance
schedule?
Getting the schedule I wanted while maintaining income meant that I had to make some choices. One of which was focusing on business instead
of my martial art passion hobby. The thing is, doing that has freed up even more time for me to invest in my passion projects without the pressure to earn or make something profitable.
Sometimes that’s how it goes. Sometimes, to achieve one goal we have to bend on another. The great thing is, you really can find a healthy balance for your life and everything you love. Sometimes it just takes rethinking a few things.
If you aren’t happy with your schedule, ask yourself how much you’ve been focusing on maximizing income for your time invested. If you haven’t, it might be time to shift some priorities around.
