There are a lot of excuses for missing out on the benefits a website offers, but this is one I don’t think most of us want to admit. Most of us aren’t going to come right out and say…
I’m shy.
Starting a website can feel super official and like the whole world’s going to be staring at you. Plus, what if people don’t like what you publish, or the way it looks, or how you have things laid out?
Look. There are a billion…a BILLION websites on the Internet right now. Having too many people looking at and judging your website is the least of your worries.
Plus, even if they do, they can just move on to another site and ignore your freelance services, just like they’re doing now if you don’t have a site.
I’ve started…more websites than I’d like to admit since my first one in 2001. Some were hideous, some were great, but not once did I hear a complaint.
People just won’t be that invested in your site…unless they like what you’ve done. And if you don’t take the first step and start working toward your best site? That won’t ever happen.
The point is, shyness is fine. Waiting is not.
