One of the worst feelings as a freelancer is when you hang up your freelance shingle, get your profile out there and…nothing. Not even one inquiry.
It’s possible it’s because there isn’t demand for what you do and it probably feels like that, but it’s also possible that you just haven’t dug deep enough to find the vein of people who want to work with you.
Hidden Demand
If you’re out here pounding the freelance pavement and you aren’t getting any responses, it might be time to boldly go where the action is.
Crossing your niche with a popular platform like Etsy, Hubspot, Amazon, or Shopify might be what you need to find the specialization that sets you apart from other freelancers.
It looks like this…not getting leverage as content marketer? Check out a few courses on Hubspot so that you can brag about your specialization in that platform. Not getting work as a developer? Focusing on Shopify might be what gets you attention.
These might take some investment in skill development (so talk to other freelancers before you invest too much time or money), but they’re worth checking out if your niche is currently running cold.
