You can prioritize a lot of things in your freelance business — free time, flexibility, location independence. For me? I’m not gonna lie. Income was a huge deal.
Having a low-stress, location independent business was a top priority for me, but so was finding some level of financial comfort. Ultimately, that’s been what’s guided my choices around niche and client size.

Even if you care more about working in a field you love, take some time to track and review your income and see which direction it’s headed. If it’s not moving in a direction you want, maybe it’s time to try a new focus for 6 months or so.
