Finding jobs to poach is basically like job hunting, but with a few twists.
I set up job alerts just like I did when I was looking for employment. You can always do it by hand, but automated marketing that comes straight to your inbox saves you time and money.
You know my personal favorite is LinkedIn, but classics like Monster and CareerBuilder are good choices too. The thing is, on LinkedIn, you know that the people who are behind the job post are also active on the site. That means you can probably contact them directly. On other sites, people can pop in, drop a job, and only show up when resumes come in so it can be harder to find your contact once you find a job
you’re interested in.
A couple of tips on searching: You can search for the position that aligns with what you do (e.g. as a writer/content marketer I look for those position titles), but it doesn't hurt to search just for your skill set. Remember you’re not trying to take a whole job. You’re just looking to pick up overflow work.
Also, take advantage of gaming differences in regional cost of living. I like to focus in areas like Silicon Valley and NY where salaries are higher than my local area...that way I can push my rates and make more where it’s cheaper to live.
