So you know from last week’s email what you’re missing out on if you’re hiding online. Now it’s time to take some steps in the right direction.
- Buy your domain. I don’t care if it’s just your name, claim your domain and start using the email address.
- Get involved in your niche. You don’t even have to start attending every event, but at the very least, join (and participate in) some LinkedIn groups. Subscribe to trade magazines, and follow freelancers who do what you do.
- Be open with your portfolio. Use social media tools like Buffer to start publicizing your work. Make this a regular practice.
- Get a LinkedIn company page going. LinkedIn company pages are free. Play with that so that you can at least get used to being “out there” online.
Are these small steps? Yes, but the whole point is to get you out of a habit of being shy about your freelance business and take the first step toward freelance boldness.
