This is one of my favorite benefits of job poaching because it can be SO difficult as a freelancer to find skill development direction. Job poaching exposes you to a ton of useful information in shaping your skills as a freelancer.
As an example, let’s take this job for a gaming content strategist that I tweeted about.
They go on talking about being up on trends and understanding gaming and fashion, but toward the bottom they get to the good stuff…
- Strong presentation skills
- Demonstrated experience with influencer marketing
If I saw something like this popping up on a job or…four, I’d start looking into courses PowerPoint and SlideShare, and maybe even some public speaking. I’d also be beefing up my understanding of influencer marketing and seeing where I could align my skills development there.
That’s it for job poaching, but remember that it doesn’t have to take a ton of effort. Set up those automated alerts and get that freelance work.
