I’m hoping my experience here is unique, but the Black-owned businesses I buy from…I’m talking brick and mortar and e-commerce…they’re just not using content marketing.
And that’s not a shame, it’s a loss. A loss for them, their bank accounts, and their communities.
Content marketing drives sales and visits and honestly, plenty of our businesses need help on that exact front.
I think part of the problem isn’t just that owners don’t believe in content marketing. Nah. I think it’s more that we don’t have enough marketers who’ve taken the time to learn and leverage Black audiences’ relationships with content…that’s a shame because we generate some of the most viral and popular content on the Internet.
I’m hoping we’ll see a change soon, but I also think that anyone who’s willing to step up and treat Black buyers’ as diverse consumers with unique motivations and tastes could really make a name for themselves.
