Sometimes content marketing is dead in the water before it even starts.
That can happen for a few reasons, but the main one? Is not having branding basics down.
Content marketing is essentially spreading a story — a story that talks about customer problems and how you help
solve them. If a blog is falling flat or nobody’s paying attention to your social, there’s a good chance it’s because you’re missing that story.
No story, no message. No message? No successful content.
If you want to build that story (remember…it’s a process), I like Pardot’s process and framework. But honestly that’s just the beginning.
Start paying attention to other freelancers’ and businesses’ content and see if you can’t pick out their messaging story. Anything they’re missing will be a key to where you should kick things off.
