Hi,
We’re into week three of Skills Development month and it’s time for some reframing!
What do you do when a client gives you feedback?
Your answer might be anything from being excited to feeling down for a week because you’ve been criticized, but that’s not where the opportunity is.
The opportunity comes when you look at feedback as a way to guide your growth as a freelancer.
Clue #3: Client Feedback
Client feedback is incredibly valuable.
Not just for informing your immediate relationship. But also as a lesson for where to focus your future efforts. Here’s an example.
Once, after sending over the first draft of a white paper, I had a client tell me that the ideas were hard to follow. It stung. But I took it as a sign that I needed to do better in my white paper work.
I picked up the book, White Papers for Dummies…a ridiculously small investment since it meant retaining the trust of anyone who asked me to create a white paper for them.
For most feedback, it isn’t that hard to translate to an opportunity that then translates to a skills resource.
What feedback have you gotten recently (or in the past) that provided clues to where you should be focusing your skills dev?
If you’re having a hard time matching things up to a learning resource, shoot it over and I’ll see what I can find.
