I’ve gotten this piece of advice for years, but it’s only recently clicked. I think there’s a reason for that.
To really understand the power of old leads, you have to have old leads. Not the kind that put off a project for a few weeks or even months. The kind that you ran into 2 years ago on a job board who recently laid off a key employee and now needs your help.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t wait until you’re years into the freelance game to start using this tactic. No. I’m saying that the longer you’re at it, the more valuable it becomes —because over time you grow a deeper history and probably a better quality history of prospects.
Remember that you can’t make new old leads...so start saving those leads in your CRM today.
