This week we’re going to play consultants for our own business — meaning we’re going to look for areas to create change.
Any other time, this may or may not apply to everyone, but right now? I can almost guarantee there’s some area of your freelance life where you need to change something, and it’s probably something big.
It might be a lot to take on, but it starts with small questions. Here are a few to think about when you’re rethinking your business…
- Are my sales processes efficient enough right now? Where can they be better?
- Are the markets I’m focused on likely going to be stable for the next few months or even years?
- Will my services be needed for the markets I’m looking at right now?
- Am I producing efficiently enough to keep money flowing in if things get tight?
Change is challenging, but right now it can pay off big.
Personally, I’ve switched how I build my prospect lists to focus in on organizations that are getting praised for their marketing work (winning awards and being put on lists). Why? Because they take the least convincing to pay for my services and right now I’m protecting my time and effort even more than usual.
So what about you? Where do you see opportunity for change in your freelance business?
