One of the best practices you can pick up as a freelancer is tracking your lessons.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve “learned” a lesson, only to get smacked in the face with the fact that I didn’t really learn it just a couple years later.
Writing it down, though, really helps and pushes you to find a way to put it into practice.
So this month, I want you to pick one lesson about your rates that you’ve learned over the last few weeks and document how you can take action to put that lesson into practice going forward.
For me, my rates for one particular client really stood out as low. That surprised me because they used to be one of my star clients. When I took a closer look, it was because of the contract rate for blogs. They’re just taking too long for the price.
…so I had to push my rates. (I’ve already done it for one new client and have gotten them 50% higher). In the future? I have to leave those $300 blogs behind and likely raise rates with this client.
So what about you?
